Description:

This study evaluated plasma hsa_circ_0001445/circSMARCA5 as a circulating biomarker for stable coronary artery disease. Lower plasma levels were associated with higher coronary atherosclerotic burden and improved patient reclassification when added to clinical risk models. In vitro experiments suggested that atherogenic conditions reduce hsa_circ_0001445 levels in extracellular vesicles secreted by human coronary smooth muscle cells.
