High hsa_circ_001653 expression is associated with advanced TNM stage, deep tumor infiltration, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis in gastric cancer patients.
hsa_circ_001653 is up-regulated in gastric cancer tissues and cell lines and is associated with more aggressive clinicopathological features. Functionally, it promotes gastric cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion and xenograft tumor growth while inhibiting apoptosis. Mechanistically, cytoplasmic hsa_circ_001653 binds miR-377 and increases NR6A1 expression, forming a hsa_circ_001653/miR-377/NR6A1 regulatory axis.
