circMAPK9 is decreased in AD (validated by RT-qPCR in cortex with a trend decrease in hippocampus) and is reduced by oligomeric tau in human NPCs; notably, its tau-induced downregulation occurs without a decrease in linear MAPK9 mRNA, suggesting circRNA-specific regulation.
