circDCUN1D4 is down-regulated in HCC and acts as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting proliferation, migration/invasion and promoting apoptosis. It mainly localizes to the cytoplasm and functions as a ceRNA that sponges miR-590-5p to regulate TIMP3, affecting metastasis-related proteins (e.g., MMP9, E-cadherin, Vimentin). Higher circDCUN1D4 expression is associated with better patient survival and circDCUN1D4 delivery suppresses xenograft growth in mice.
