circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: HIPK2, beta-catenin
Associated microRNA: -
Biological function: promotes proliferation and tumor growth of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells
Molecular mechanism: circHIPK2 inhibits HIPK2 protein level post-transcriptionally, thereby increasing beta-catenin protein level to promote NPC proliferation
Biological pathway or process:

proliferation (promotes); Wnt/beta-catenin (promotes)

Detected method:
Q
S
Validation methods:

RNA-seq; RT-qPCR; Sanger Sequencing; Transfection; CCK8; Colony Formation Assay; FISH / smFISH; Nuclear-Cytoplasmic Fractionation; Western Blot; In Vivo Animal Model

Clinical significance:

circHIPK2 might be a novel treatment target for NPC management

Description:

circHIPK2 (hsa_circ_0001756), derived from HIPK2, is up-regulated in nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues and promotes NPC cell proliferation and xenograft tumor growth. Mechanistically, circHIPK2 post-transcriptionally suppresses HIPK2 protein and increases beta-catenin protein levels, supporting an oncogenic circHIPK2/HIPK2 axis.

Confidence score:

0.5949
