Clinical significance:

Circulating ciRS-7 in plasma shows diagnostic value (ROC/AUC) and higher expression is associated with lymph node invasion, distant metastasis, and worse overall survival; it is an independent predictor of OS in advanced-stage (FIGO IIB-IV) EOC.

Description:

This study reports that circulating ciRS-7 is aberrantly expressed in EOC plasma (higher preoperatively) and has diagnostic value by ROC analysis. High ciRS-7 levels are associated with lymph node/distant metastasis and worse overall survival, and ciRS-7 is an independent prognostic factor in advanced-stage EOC. Mechanistically, it is proposed to act as a sponge for hsa-miR-7-5p based on predicted binding and an inverse plasma correlation.
