This study identifies a TREM2-derived circRNA, circTREM2_1, in human entorhinal cortex and microglial HMC3 cells. circTREM2_1 shows increased expression in AD versus controls by RT-qPCR and its expression negatively correlates with Abeta deposit area in AD cases. Predicted miRNA binding suggests a potential miRNA-sponge/ceRNA-related role, but functional mechanisms remain unvalidated.
