circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: NEK2
Associated microRNA: miR-186-5p
Biological function: Promotes gastric cancer cell proliferation and cell cycle progression, inhibits apoptosis, and acts as a tumor promoter in gastric cancer.
Molecular mechanism: circPDSS1 functions as a miR-186-5p sponge and modulates NEK2 through the circPDSS1/miR-186-5p/NEK2 axis.
Biological pathway or process:

ceRNA regulation (other); proliferation (promotes); apoptosis (inhibits); cell cycle (promotes)

Detected method:
Q
M
Validation methods:

RT-qPCR; Microarray; Clinical Sample Validation; Luciferase Reporter Assay; Transfection; CCK8; Annexin V/PI Flow Cytometry; Cell Cycle Assay; Western Blot; Survival Analysis; Bioinformatics Analysis

Clinical significance:

High circPDSS1 expression is associated with worse overall survival and poor prognosis in patients with gastric cancer; circPDSS1 could be a potential biomarker and therapeutic target.

Description:

circPDSS1 is up-regulated in gastric cancer tissues and cell lines and its high expression is associated with worse overall survival. Functionally, circPDSS1 promotes GC cell proliferation and cell cycle progression while inhibiting apoptosis. Mechanistically, it acts as a miR-186-5p sponge to modulate NEK2 through the circPDSS1/miR-186-5p/NEK2 axis.

Confidence score:

0.7357
