In spontaneous abortion, circ-CCNB1 is up-regulated in villous tissues and suppresses trophoblast proliferation and invasion while promoting G0/G1 arrest. Mechanistically, circ-CCNB1 sponges miR-223 to increase SIAH1, which contributes to reduced CCNB1 nuclear translocation.
