Description:

circCYP24A1 (hsa_circ_0060927), derived from CYP24A1, is down-regulated in RCC tissues and cell lines and its low expression is associated with worse overall survival. Functionally, circCYP24A1 suppresses RCC proliferation, invasion, migration and metastasis and promotes apoptosis. Mechanistically, it acts as a ceRNA sponge for miR-421 to upregulate CMTM4, thereby dampening EMT- and MEK/ERK- and AKT/mTOR-related malignant phenotypes.
