Associated with more aggressive features of PCa and poor overall survival; proposed to promote PCa progression (mechanism not experimentally validated). |
| Molecular mechanism: |
Preliminary in silico evidence suggests association with the p53 signaling pathway and possible miR-205 sponging; not experimentally validated. |

| Validation methods: |
RT-qPCR; Sanger Sequencing; Back-Splice Junction PCR / divergent primers PCR; Clinical Sample Validation; Bioinformatics Analysis; Survival Analysis; ROC Analysis; Microarray |
| Clinical significance: |
Serum hsa_circ_0006168 is higher in PCa than in BPH and healthy controls (AUC=0.773) and high expression is associated with Gleason score; high expression predicts poorer overall survival. |
| Description: |
hsa_circ_0006168 is up-regulated in prostate cancer (tissue datasets and patient serum) and is elevated in androgen-independent PCa cell lines (DU145 and PC-3). Clinically, higher serum levels show diagnostic value (AUC 0.773) and are associated with poorer overall survival. Bioinformatics suggests potential involvement in the p53 signaling pathway and a possible ceRNA interaction with miR-205, but this mechanism is not experimentally validated in this study. |
