Description:

circHIPK3 is up-regulated in serum from patients with type 2 diabetes and neuropathic pain and in dorsal root ganglion from STZ-induced diabetic rats. The study shows that circHIPK3 promotes diabetic neuropathic pain and neuroinflammation by interacting with and negatively regulating miR-124, while intrathecal circHIPK3 shRNA alleviates pain behaviors and inflammatory cytokine expression. Clinically, higher serum circHIPK3 is associated with greater neuropathic pain severity and may serve as a biomarker or predictive factor.
