circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: MCM7
Associated microRNA: -
Biological function: circMCM7 promotes HCC cell proliferation, invasion, metastasis and tumor growth, while inhibiting apoptosis; circMCM7 knockdown suppresses proliferation, invasion and xenograft tumor growth and promotes apoptosis.
Molecular mechanism: circMCM7 positively regulates its host gene MCM7 expression; MCM7 overexpression partially rescues the proliferation, invasion and apoptosis phenotypes caused by circMCM7 knockdown.
Biological pathway or process:

proliferation (promotes); invasion (promotes); apoptosis (inhibits); metastasis (promotes); other pathway/process (promotes)

Detected method:
Q
M
Validation methods:

Back-Splice Junction PCR / divergent primers PCR; RNase R Treatment; Actinomycin D / DRB Stability Assay; RT-qPCR; Microarray; Clinical Sample Validation; Transfection; CCK8; EdU Staining; Annexin V/PI Flow Cytometry; Transwell Assay; Western Blot; In Vivo Animal Model; IHC (Immunohistochemistry); TUNEL; Cohort Study; Survival Analysis; Bioinformatics Analysis

Clinical significance:

Elevated circMCM7 expression is correlated with poor clinical outcomes, shorter overall survival, advanced TNM stage and lymph node metastasis in HCC patients; circMCM7 may serve as a prognostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target.

Description:

circMCM7 is an up-regulated oncogenic circRNA in hepatocellular carcinoma. It promotes HCC proliferation, invasion, metastasis and xenograft tumor growth while suppressing apoptosis, at least partly by positively regulating its host gene MCM7. High circMCM7 expression is associated with advanced TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and poor overall survival, supporting its potential as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target.

Confidence score:

0.823
