low p185 expression was significantly related to tumor invasion depth and lymph node metastasis in patients with colorectal cancer
circMYBL2 is downregulated in colorectal cancer tissues and cell lines and encodes the 185-aa protein p185. p185 acts as a tumor suppressor by competitively binding UCHL3, reducing UCHL3-mediated deubiquitination of PHGDH, promoting PHGDH degradation, and lowering serine and glycine biosynthesis, thereby inhibiting colorectal cancer growth, invasion and metastasis.
