| Biological function: |
Supports and promotes proliferation/growth of B-cell lymphoma cells; circPVT1 knockdown inhibits growth especially in BL and some HL cells, while circPVT1 overexpression promotes growth in cell lines lacking or having low endogenous circPVT1 levels. |
| Molecular mechanism: |
Growth-supporting effect independent of miRNA binding; predominant cytoplasmic localization was observed, but AGO2-RIP did not support miRNA interaction and the precise mechanism remains unresolved. |

| Description: |
circPVT1 is up-regulated in B-cell lymphoma cell lines compared with germinal center B cells. Functional knockdown and overexpression experiments indicate that circPVT1 supports lymphoma cell growth, particularly in BL and in cells with absent or low endogenous circPVT1. The study found no evidence that circPVT1 binds miRNAs in B-cell lymphoma, suggesting that its proliferation-promoting role is independent of a ceRNA mechanism. |
