circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: CDC25A, Ago2
Associated microRNA: miR-214-3p
Biological function: CircFNDC3B promotes ESCC cell growth, proliferation, migration, invasion and tumour growth, and inhibits apoptosis; circFNDC3B knockdown restrains these malignant phenotypes.
Molecular mechanism: CircFNDC3B functions as a ceRNA by sponging miR-214-3p, thereby up-regulating CDC25A expression to promote ESCC tumorigenesis and progression.
Biological pathway or process:

proliferation (promotes); migration (promotes); invasion (promotes); metastasis (promotes); apoptosis (inhibits); ceRNA regulation (promotes); other pathway/process (promotes)

Detected method:
Q
Validation methods:

RT-qPCR; Clinical Sample Validation; Transfection; Colony Formation Assay; EdU Staining; Annexin V/PI Flow Cytometry; Wound Healing Assay; Transwell Assay; Western Blot; Luciferase Reporter Assay; RIP (RNA Immunoprecipitation); In Vivo Animal Model; Survival Analysis; Bioinformatics Analysis

Clinical significance:

High circFNDC3B expression was tightly associated with poor prognosis in ESCC patients, and circFNDC3B may be a potential molecular targeted therapeutic for ESCC patients.

Description:

CircFNDC3B is up-regulated in ESCC tissues and cell lines, and high expression is associated with shorter overall survival. Functionally, circFNDC3B acts as an oncogenic circRNA that promotes ESCC cell proliferation, migration, invasion and xenograft tumour growth while suppressing apoptosis. Mechanistically, it sponges miR-214-3p to increase CDC25A expression, forming a circFNDC3B/miR-214-3p/CDC25A regulatory axis.

Confidence score:

0.7554
