Biological function: Potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for gastric cancer; decreased accumulation in GC plasma and tissues; high plasma or tissue levels associated with better survival; levels closely correlated with tumor metastasis.
Molecular mechanism: No molecular mechanism was experimentally explored in GC; the study reports clinical association with diagnosis, prognosis, and tumor metastasis.
Biological pathway or process:

metastasis (other)

Detected method:
Q
Validation methods:

Back-Splice Junction PCR / divergent primers PCR; RT-qPCR; Clinical Sample Validation; Cohort Study; Survival Analysis; ROC Analysis

Clinical significance:

Plasma circSOBP may distinguish GC patients from IBS, GERD, gastritis, PU patients and healthy controls; high plasma or tissue circSOBP levels indicate better survival; plasma and tissue levels correlate with tumor metastasis.

Description:

This clinical study found that circSOBP is down-regulated in gastric cancer plasma and tissue samples. Plasma circSOBP showed diagnostic potential for distinguishing GC patients from patients with IBS, GERD, gastritis, PU and healthy controls, while higher plasma or tissue circSOBP levels were associated with better survival. The study did not experimentally define a molecular mechanism in GC, but circSOBP levels were closely associated with tumor metastasis.

Confidence score:

0.5918
