Low circ-PLCD1 expression was associated with larger tumor size, later clinical stage and shorter survival time; circ-PLCD1 may be a promising prognostic biomarker for NSCLC.
circ-PLCD1 is a p53-activated tumor-suppressive circRNA that is downregulated in NSCLC tissues and cell lines. It localizes mainly in the cytoplasm and functions as a ceRNA for miR-375 and miR-1179, increasing PTEN and suppressing PI3K/AKT signaling. Higher circ-PLCD1 expression is associated with longer survival, while restoration of circ-PLCD1 inhibits NSCLC proliferation, invasion, tumor growth and metastasis and promotes apoptosis.

Circular RNA circ-PLCD1 functions as a tumor suppressor in non-small cell lung cancer by inactivation of PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.
