circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: AKT3
Associated microRNA: miR-503-5p
Biological function: Circ_0011232 promotes HCC cell proliferation, colony formation, migration, invasion, and tumor growth, and inhibits apoptosis.
Molecular mechanism: Circ_0011232 functions as a ceRNA by sponging miR-503-5p, thereby increasing AKT3 expression and promoting HCC progression.
Biological pathway or process:

proliferation (promotes); apoptosis (inhibits); migration (promotes); invasion (promotes); metastasis (promotes); ceRNA regulation (promotes); mRNA stability (other)

Detected method:
Q
Validation methods:

RNase R Treatment; Actinomycin D / DRB Stability Assay; RT-qPCR; Clinical Sample Validation; Luciferase Reporter Assay; Transfection; CCK8; EdU Staining; Colony Formation Assay; Annexin V/PI Flow Cytometry; Wound Healing Assay; Transwell Assay; Western Blot; IHC (Immunohistochemistry); In Vivo Animal Model; Survival Analysis; Bioinformatics Analysis; Cohort Study

Clinical significance:

High circ_0011232 expression was associated with tumor size, TNM stage, liver cirrhosis, lymph node metastases, and shorter overall survival; it might be a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for HCC.

Description:

Circ_0011232 is upregulated in HCC tissues and cells and is associated with poorer overall survival and aggressive clinicopathological features. Functionally, it promotes proliferation, colony formation, migration, invasion, and xenograft tumor growth while suppressing apoptosis. Mechanistically, circ_0011232 sponges miR-503-5p to upregulate AKT3, forming a circ_0011232/miR-503-5p/AKT3 oncogenic axis.

Confidence score:

0.8283

Other information
