CircTLK1 was elevated in the serum of DN patients, suggesting relevance to DN pathogenesis.
In this study, circTLK1 was up-regulated in serum from DN patients and in HG-treated human mesangial cells. CircTLK1 promoted HG-induced inflammation, oxidative stress, and ECM accumulation by sponging miR-126-5p and miR-204-5p to activate the AKT/NF-kappaB pathway. Silencing circTLK1 alleviated mesangial cell injury, suggesting a mechanistic role in DN pathogenesis.
