circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: MAPK1
Associated microRNA: miR-21-5p
Biological function: circPUM1 promotes PTC cell growth, metastasis, glycolysis and tumorigenesis; knockdown of circPUM1 suppresses these malignant phenotypes.
Molecular mechanism: circPUM1 acts as a sponge for miR-21-5p, thereby regulating MAPK1 expression through the miR-21-5p/MAPK1 axis.
Biological pathway or process:

proliferation (promotes); migration (promotes); invasion (promotes); metastasis (promotes); glycolysis (promotes); ceRNA regulation (promotes); other pathway/process (promotes)

Detected method:
Q
Validation methods:

RT-qPCR; Clinical Sample Validation; Transfection; CCK8; Transwell Assay; Western Blot; Luciferase Reporter Assay; RNA Pull-Down; In Vivo Animal Model; Survival Analysis; Bioinformatics Analysis

Clinical significance:

High circPUM1 expression predicts poor prognosis in PTC patients and may have clinical significance in PTC treatment.

Description:

circPUM1 is up-regulated in papillary thyroid cancer tissues and cell lines, and high expression is associated with poorer overall survival. Functionally, circPUM1 promotes PTC cell growth, migration, invasion, glycolysis and in vivo tumorigenesis. Mechanistically, circPUM1 sponges miR-21-5p to regulate MAPK1, forming a circPUM1/miR-21-5p/MAPK1 axis that supports PTC progression.

Confidence score:

0.7537

Other information
