circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: HMGA2, Ago2
Associated microRNA: miR-375
Biological function: CircZFR promotes HCC progression by enhancing cell proliferation, glycolysis and tumor growth and by inhibiting apoptosis.
Molecular mechanism: CircZFR acts as a molecular sponge of miR-375 to regulate HMGA2 expression in HCC cells.
Biological pathway or process:

proliferation (promotes); apoptosis (inhibits); glycolysis (promotes); ceRNA regulation (other); other pathway/process (promotes)

Detected method:
Q
Validation methods:

RNase R Treatment; RT-qPCR; Clinical Sample Validation; Nuclear-Cytoplasmic Fractionation; Bioinformatics Analysis; Luciferase Reporter Assay; RIP (RNA Immunoprecipitation); Transfection; MTT; Annexin V/PI Flow Cytometry; Western Blot; In Vivo Animal Model

Clinical significance:

High circZFR expression was significantly associated with TNM stage, tumor size and HBV, and circZFR might be a reliable biomarker in HCC.

Description:

circZFR is up-regulated in HCC tissues and cell lines and functions as an oncogenic circRNA. Mechanistically, circZFR sponges miR-375 to increase HMGA2 expression, thereby promoting glycolysis, proliferation and tumor growth while suppressing apoptosis. Its high expression is associated with TNM stage, tumor size and HBV status, suggesting potential clinical relevance in HCC.

Confidence score:

0.7785
