High circAKT1 expression was positively associated with TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and predicted an adverse prognosis; circAKT1 was proposed as a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target in ccRCC.

Description:

circAKT1 is up-regulated in ccRCC tissues and cell lines, and high expression is associated with advanced TNM stage, lymph node metastasis, and poor overall survival. Functionally, circAKT1 promotes proliferation, colony formation, migration, invasion, and EMT in ccRCC cells. Mechanistically, circAKT1 acts as a cytoplasmic sponge for miR-338e3p to release CAV1 from miRNA-mediated repression, thereby facilitating ccRCC progression.
