circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: IL-6
Associated microRNA: miR-149
Biological function: circRBM33 promotes GC cell proliferation, migration and invasion, and inhibits apoptosis; silencing circRBM33 decreases proliferation, migration and invasion and increases apoptosis.
Molecular mechanism: circRBM33 acts as a sponge for miR-149 and modulates IL-6 levels through the circRBM33/miR-149/IL-6 axis.
Biological pathway or process:

ceRNA regulation (promotes); proliferation (promotes); migration (promotes); invasion (promotes); metastasis (promotes); apoptosis (inhibits)

Detected method:
Q
Validation methods:

RT-qPCR; Clinical Sample Validation; Bioinformatics Analysis; Luciferase Reporter Assay; Transfection; CCK8; EdU Staining; Transwell Assay; Annexin V/PI Flow Cytometry; Western Blot

Clinical significance:

circRBM33 upregulation was associated with advanced TNM stage, position of the tumor, lymph node metastasis, poor differentiation, and large tumor size; circRBM33 may act as a tumor biomarker and potential therapeutic target.

Description:

hsa_circ_0001772/circRBM33 is upregulated in gastric cancer tissues and cell lines and is associated with more aggressive clinicopathological features. Functionally, circRBM33 promotes GC cell proliferation, migration and invasion while suppressing apoptosis. Mechanistically, circRBM33 binds miR-149 and modulates IL-6 levels through the circRBM33/miR-149/IL-6 axis, suggesting potential biomarker and therapeutic relevance.

Confidence score:

0.6536
