CircMTO1 inhibited RCC cell proliferation, migration and invasion, induced apoptosis, and suppressed RCC progression. |
| Molecular mechanism: |
CircMTO1 functions as a miRNA sponge for miR-211 and miR-204 and regulates KLF6 expression through a ceRNA mechanism. |

| Clinical significance: |
Decreased circMTO1 levels were associated with advanced Fuhrman grade and TNM stage, and low circMTO1 level was correlated with reduced overall survival of RCC patients. |
| Description: |
circMTO1 is down-regulated in RCC tissues and cell lines and acts as a tumor-suppressive circRNA. It inhibits RCC cell proliferation, migration and invasion while promoting apoptosis, at least partly by sponging miR-211 and miR-204 to regulate KLF6. Clinically, lower circMTO1 expression is associated with advanced Fuhrman grade, advanced TNM stage, and poorer overall survival. |
