circPTPN12 (hsa_circ_0003764), derived from the PTPN12 gene, is up-regulated in fibrotic endometrium/IUA and mainly expressed in EECs. It localizes predominantly to the cytoplasm and acts as a ceRNA sponge for miR-21-5 p, lowering miR-21-5 p activity to de-repress deltaNp63alpha, thereby promoting EEC-EMT and endometrial fibrosis; miR-21-5 p supplementation counteracts these effects in vivo.
