circPTK2 (hsa_circ_0008305) is up-regulated in LPS-stimulated microglia and in the hippocampus of CLP-induced sepsis mice. It promotes microglial inflammatory activation and hippocampal cell apoptosis by sponging miR-181c-5p, which in turn targets HMGB1. Silencing circPTK2 alleviates inflammation, improves mitochondrial membrane potential and cognitive performance, and increases survival in septic mice. |
