higher circ-NOLC1 expression was positively associated with FIGO stage, differentiation and CA125 status; may have potential as diagnostic biomarker
circ-NOLC1 is up-regulated in epithelial ovarian cancer and is associated with more advanced FIGO stage, poorer differentiation, and CA125 positivity. Functionally, it promotes proliferation, migration and invasion and inhibits apoptosis in vitro, and enhances tumor growth in a cell line-derived xenograft model. Mechanistically, it binds the RBP ESRP1 (validated by RIP) and increases ESRP1, CDK1 and RhoA expression, supporting an ESRP1-mediated regulation of CDK1/RhoA rather than a direct miRNA-sponge effect for the tested miRNAs.

Circ-NOLC1 promotes epithelial ovarian cancer tumorigenesis and progression by binding ESRP1 and modulating CDK1 and RhoA expression.
