circRNA-SORE (circRNA_104797/circ_0087293) is up-regulated in sorafenib-resistant HCC cells and promotes sorafenib resistance by inhibiting sorafenib-induced apoptosis. Mechanistically, it binds YBX1 in the cytoplasm to prevent PRP19-mediated ubiquitination and degradation of YBX1, and it can be transported via exosomes to spread resistance among HCC cells; high circRNA-SORE predicts worse recurrence-free survival in sorafenib-treated patients. |
