Mechanistically, cytoplasmic circGLIS2 functions as a ceRNA by sponging miR-671, thereby activating NF-kappaB signaling (p65 phosphorylation/nuclear localization) and enhancing pro-inflammatory chemokine production with leukocyte recruitment.
