circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: ETS1
Associated microRNA: miR-326
Biological function: Promotes breast cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion, metastasis and EMT; functions as an oncogenic circRNA in breast cancer.
Molecular mechanism: circ_0000291 acts as a sponge/decoy of miR-326, thereby upregulating ETS1 expression and promoting breast cancer progression via the circ_0000291/miR-326/ETS1 axis.
Biological pathway or process:

proliferation (promotes); migration (promotes); invasion (promotes); metastasis (promotes); EMT (promotes); ceRNA regulation (promotes)

Detected method:
Q
Validation methods:

RT-qPCR; Clinical Sample Validation; Transfection; CCK8; BrdU; Transwell Assay; Western Blot; RIP (RNA Immunoprecipitation); Luciferase Reporter Assay; IHC (Immunohistochemistry); Bioinformatics Analysis

Clinical significance:

High circ_0000291 expression was associated with increased tumor size, local lymph node metastasis, higher Ki67 expression and increased T stage in breast cancer patients; it was proposed as a potential therapy target and basis for BC diagnosis and treatment.

Description:

circ_0000291 is upregulated in breast cancer tissues and cell lines and is associated with more aggressive clinicopathological features. Functionally, it promotes BC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, metastasis and EMT. Mechanistically, circ_0000291 sponges miR-326 to increase ETS1 expression, forming a circ_0000291/miR-326/ETS1 oncogenic axis.

Confidence score:

0.7537
