circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: WNT5B
Associated microRNA: miR-149-5p
Biological function: circ_0001846 participates in IL-1beta-induced chondrocyte cell damage; circ_0001846 knockdown reverses IL-1beta-mediated inhibition of cell viability, migration and invasion, and reduces apoptosis, inflammation and ECM degradation in CHON-001 cells.
Molecular mechanism: Exosome-mediated circ_0001846 modulates IL-1beta-induced chondrocyte cell damage by sponging miR-149-5p and regulating WNT5B expression through the miR-149-5p/WNT5B axis.

Description:

circ_0001846 is up-regulated in osteoarthritis cartilage tissues and IL-1beta-treated CHON-001 chondrocytes, including in exosomes. Functionally, circ_0001846 promotes IL-1beta-induced chondrocyte injury by aggravating apoptosis, inflammation and ECM degradation while reducing viability, invasion and migration. Mechanistically, exosome-mediated circ_0001846 acts through the miR-149-5p/WNT5B axis, suggesting a potential therapeutic target for OA.
