In Egyptian patients with HCV infection and HCV-induced HCC, circSERPINA3 is upregulated in plasma/PMNC-derived RNA and is inversely correlated with miR-944. The study supports a ceRNA-like mechanism where circSERPINA3 sponges miR-944, associated with increased MDM2 and enhanced malignant phenotypes (proliferation/metastasis) and poorer short-term survival, and it shows diagnostic value by ROC analysis. |
