Clinical significance:

circPGD expression increased within GC samples and was related to lymph node metastasis (LNM) and tumor size; potential diagnostic marker for GC

Description:

circPGD (hsa_circ_0009735), derived from PGD, is up-regulated in gastric cancer tissues and cell lines and correlates with larger tumor size and lymph node metastasis. It promotes proliferation, migration/metastasis and EMT while inhibiting apoptosis by sponging miR-16-5p to de-repress ABL2 and activating SMAD2/3 and Hippo/YAP-related signaling. circPGD also encodes a tumor-promoting protein (PGD-219aa) that similarly enhances malignant phenotypes.

Confidence score:

0.8072

Other information
Title:

Circular RNA circPGD contributes to gastric cancer progression via the sponging miR-16-5p/ABL2 axis and encodes a novel PGD-219aa protein.
