Biological function: Serves as a circulating exosomal diagnostic biomarker for colorectal cancer; tumor-derived elevated exosomal level in CRC patient serum.
Molecular mechanism: Not investigated (diagnostic biomarker study); origin analysis suggests tumor-derived exosomal release.
Biological pathway or process:

not specified

Detected method:

S
Validation methods:

Bioinformatics Analysis; RT-qPCR; Clinical Sample Validation; ROC Analysis; RNA-seq

Clinical significance:

Circulating exosomal hsa-circ-0004771 is significantly up-regulated in CRC patient sera and shows diagnostic efficacy by ROC analysis; expression correlates with TNM stage and distant metastasis.

Description:

This study identifies circulating serum exosomal hsa-circ-0004771 (circNRIP1) as up-regulated in colorectal cancer and evaluates it as a diagnostic biomarker using qRT-PCR and ROC analysis. Postoperative decrease and exosome-inhibition experiments support that its elevated serum exosomal level is tumor-derived, while its biological mechanism in CRC was not resolved.
