| Expression pattern: |
UP |
| Associated gene: |
SOX4 |
| Associated microRNA: |
miR-139-3p |
| Biological function: |
circ_0000218 promotes gastric cancer cell proliferation and inhibits apoptosis; circ_0000218 knockdown inhibits proliferation, induces apoptosis, and increases cleaved-Caspase3 expression in GC cells. |
| Molecular mechanism: |
circ_0000218 acts through a circ_0000218/miR-139-3p/SOX4 regulatory axis, adsorbing and negatively regulating miR-139-3p to upregulate SOX4. |
| Biological pathway or process: |
proliferation (promotes); apoptosis (inhibits); ceRNA regulation (promotes) |

| Validation methods: |
RT-qPCR; Bioinformatics Analysis; Luciferase Reporter Assay; RNA Pull-Down; Transfection; MTT; Annexin V/PI Flow Cytometry; Western Blot |
| Clinical significance: |
circ_0000218 may serve as a promising therapeutic target for gastric cancer. |
| Description: |
This study reports that hsa_circ_0000218/circ_0000218 is up-regulated in AGS gastric cancer cells compared with GES-1 cells. Functionally, circ_0000218 promotes GC cell proliferation and suppresses apoptosis. Mechanistically, circ_0000218 adsorbs and negatively regulates miR-139-3p, thereby upregulating SOX4 through the circ_0000218/miR-139-3p/SOX4 axis. |
