Higher circRNA_103516 levels are associated with active disease and correlate with inflammatory cytokines, suggesting a proinflammatory role. Mechanistically, it is proposed to function as a miRNA sponge (not experimentally validated), with a negative correlation observed with hsa-miR-19b-1-5p in CD.
