circFBXW4 is down-regulated during hepatic fibrosis and functions as an anti-fibrotic circRNA by inhibiting HSC activation and proliferation while promoting apoptosis, alleviating fibrogenesis and inflammation in vivo. Mechanistically, it acts as a ceRNA sponge for miR-18b-3p to increase FBXW7 expression (and modulate downstream targets such as Yap1). circFBXW4 is also reduced in human fibrotic liver tissues, supporting potential biomarker/therapeutic relevance. |
