Potential therapeutic target for CRC treatment.
circ-ZEB1 (hsa_circ_0000229), derived from ZEB1, is up-regulated in colorectal cancer tissues and promotes malignant phenotypes including proliferation, migration/invasion, tumorigenesis/metastasis, EMT, and resistance to oxaliplatin and 5-FU. Mechanistically, it functions as a ceRNA by sponging miR-200c-5p/miR-200c and thereby relieving repression of BMI1; knockdown phenotypes are rescued by miR-200c inhibition.
