| Biological function: |
Promotes mesothelial-mesenchymal transition (MMT) of mesothelial cells and promotes gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis by inducing peritoneal fibrosis. |
| Molecular mechanism: |
Nuclear circPTBP3 recruits transcription factor TFAP2B to SGK1 promoter regions to initiate SGK1 transcription, thereby enhancing MMT and peritoneal metastasis. |

| Clinical significance: |
Plasma exosomal circPTBP3 is significantly higher in GCPM patients and shows diagnostic value (AUC=0.866); high plasma exosomal circPTBP3 is associated with shorter OS and is an independent prognostic factor. |
| Description: |
Exosomal circPTBP3 is up-regulated in gastric cancer patients with peritoneal metastasis and promotes mesothelial-mesenchymal transition and peritoneal fibrosis, facilitating peritoneal metastasis. Mechanistically, nuclear circPTBP3 recruits TFAP2B to SGK1 promoter regions to activate SGK1 transcription. Plasma exosomal circPTBP3 shows diagnostic value for GCPM and high levels predict poorer overall survival. |
