| Biological function: |
circ_FOXO3 suppresses H2O2-induced HBVSMC proliferation, promotes apoptosis, aggravates H2O2-induced HBVSMC damage, and is implicated in IA development. |
| Molecular mechanism: |
circ_FOXO3 acts as a sponge for miR-122-5p and regulates the miR-122-5p/KLF6 axis to modulate H2O2-induced HBVSMC proliferation and apoptosis. |
| Biological pathway or process: |
ceRNA regulation (promotes); proliferation (inhibits); apoptosis (promotes); other pathway/process (promotes) |

| Clinical significance: |
circ_FOXO3 expression was associated with smoking history, Hunt-Hess grading, and endothelial injury degree in IA patients; the circ_FOXO3/miR-122-5p/KLF6 axis was proposed as a promising treatment approach. |
| Description: |
This study found that circ_FOXO3 is up-regulated in IA tissues and in H2O2-treated HBVSMC. Functionally, circ_FOXO3 inhibits HBVSMC proliferation and promotes apoptosis, thereby aggravating H2O2-induced HBVSMC damage relevant to IA. Mechanistically, circ_FOXO3 sponges miR-122-5p and regulates its target KLF6, forming a circ_FOXO3/miR-122-5p/KLF6 axis with potential therapeutic significance. |
