circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: FOSL2, cyclinD1, PCNA
Associated microRNA: miR-873-5p
Biological function: Promotes CRC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, metastasis, and tumor growth; inhibits apoptosis.
Molecular mechanism: ceRNA mechanism: circ_0005615 sponges miR-873-5p to regulate FOSL2 expression through the miR-873-5p/FOSL2 signaling pathway.
Biological pathway or process:

ceRNA regulation (promotes); proliferation (promotes); migration (promotes); invasion (promotes); metastasis (promotes); apoptosis (inhibits); other pathway/process (promotes)

Detected method:
Q
Validation methods:

RNase R Treatment; RT-qPCR; Nuclear-Cytoplasmic Fractionation; Clinical Sample Validation; Luciferase Reporter Assay; Transfection; CCK8; Colony Formation Assay; Transwell Assay; Annexin V/PI Flow Cytometry; Western Blot; IHC (Immunohistochemistry); In Vivo Animal Model; Survival Analysis; Bioinformatics Analysis

Clinical significance:

High circ_0005615 expression was associated with lymph node metastasis, TNM stage, tumor size, and poor survival rate; circ_0005615 might be a novel diagnostic biomarker for CRC and a possible therapeutic target through the circ_0005615/miR-873-5p/FOSL2 axis.

Description:

circ_0005615 is up-regulated in CRC tissues, CRC cell lines, and serum exosomes from CRC patients. It promotes malignant CRC progression by sponging miR-873-5p and increasing FOSL2 expression, thereby enhancing proliferation, migration, invasion, metastasis, and tumor growth while suppressing apoptosis. High circ_0005615 expression is associated with adverse clinicopathological features and poor survival, suggesting biomarker and therapeutic relevance.

Confidence score:

0.8069
