circCPM (circ0027497), derived from CPM, is up-regulated in 5-FU-resistant gastric cancer tissues/cells. It promotes 5-FU chemoresistance by sponging miR-21-3p in the cytoplasm, thereby increasing PRKAA2 expression and activating autophagy while reducing apoptosis, and its high expression correlates with poor survival.
