Biological function: circ_ITCH acts as a tumor-suppressive circRNA in hepatocellular carcinoma under lidocaine exposure; its knockdown weakens lidocaine-induced suppression of proliferation, migration, and invasion, reduces lidocaine-induced apoptosis, and increases xenograft tumor growth.
Molecular mechanism: circ_ITCH competitively binds miR-421 to up-regulate CPEB3, thereby mediating the inhibitory effect of lidocaine on hepatocellular carcinoma development.

Description:

circ_ITCH is down-regulated in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues and cells and is restored by lidocaine treatment. In lidocaine-treated HCC models, circ_ITCH suppresses proliferation, migration, invasion, and xenograft tumor growth while promoting apoptosis, at least partly through the circ_ITCH/miR-421/CPEB3 ceRNA axis.
