| Biological function: |
Circ_FOXP1 overexpression promoted proliferation and survival of high glucose-treated human trophoblast cells, alleviated cell cycle arrest, and suppressed apoptosis. |
| Molecular mechanism: |
Circ_FOXP1 acts through a ceRNA-like mechanism by targeting miR-508-3p, thereby relieving miR-508-3p-mediated inhibition of SMAD2. |

| Clinical significance: |
Circ_FOXP1 may be a promising strategy in the treatment of GDM via improving trophoblast cell functions. |
| Description: |
Circ_FOXP1 is downregulated in GDM serum samples and high glucose-treated HTR-8/SVneo trophoblast cells. Its overexpression protects trophoblast cells from HG-induced injury by promoting proliferation and cell cycle progression while inhibiting apoptosis. Mechanistically, circ_FOXP1 targets miR-508-3p to relieve repression of SMAD2, forming a circ_FOXP1/miR-508-3p/SMAD2 regulatory axis. |
