Description:

circUSP36 is down-regulated in peripheral blood from ischemic stroke patients and lower expression is associated with disease severity, infarct volume, and poor prognosis. Functionally, circUSP36 protects against ischemic injury by promoting astrocyte survival and inhibiting apoptosis through the miR-139-3p/SMAD3/Bcl2 axis, and its overexpression reduces infarct volume and neurological deficits in a tMCAO mouse model.
