circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: ITGA6, E-cadherin, N-cadherin
Associated microRNA: miR-761, miR-214-3p
Biological function: Promotes CRC cell proliferation and migration, inhibits apoptosis, and promotes tumor growth in vivo.
Molecular mechanism: circ_0038718 acts as a miRNA sponge for miR-761 and miR-214-3p to regulate ITGA6 expression, thereby promoting CRC progression.
Biological pathway or process:

ceRNA regulation (promotes); proliferation (promotes); migration (promotes); apoptosis (inhibits); EMT (promotes); metastasis (promotes)

Detected method:
Q
M
Validation methods:

Microarray; Bioinformatics Analysis; RT-qPCR; Clinical Sample Validation; Cohort Study; Survival Analysis; RNase R Treatment; Nuclear-Cytoplasmic Fractionation; Transfection; CCK8; MTT; EdU Staining; Annexin V/PI Flow Cytometry; Wound Healing Assay; Western Blot; Luciferase Reporter Assay; In Vivo Animal Model; IHC (Immunohistochemistry)

Clinical significance:

High circ_0038718 expression was associated with lower survival rate and a more malignant phenotype in CRC patients; it may provide a new therapeutic target for CRC patients.

Description:

circ_0038718 is up-regulated in colorectal cancer tissues and cell lines, and high expression is associated with poorer patient survival and more malignant clinicopathologic features. Functionally, circ_0038718 promotes CRC cell proliferation, migration and in vivo tumor growth while suppressing apoptosis. Mechanistically, it acts as a ceRNA by sponging miR-761 and miR-214-3p to increase ITGA6 expression.

Confidence score:

0.8238
