circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: AQP4
Associated microRNA: miR-29b-3p
Biological function: Promotes 1,2-DCE-induced astrocyte swelling and AQP4 upregulation; circBCL11B knockdown alleviates 1,2-DCE-induced AQP4 upregulation and cell swelling.
Molecular mechanism: circBCL11B acts as a competing endogenous RNA and sponges miR-29b-3p, thereby weakening miR-29b-3p-mediated suppression of AQP4 and increasing AQP4 expression.
Biological pathway or process:

ceRNA regulation (promotes); other pathway/process (promotes); mitochondrial function (other)

Detected method:
Q
S
Validation methods:

circRNA-seq; RNase R Treatment; RT-qPCR; FISH / smFISH; Luciferase Reporter Assay; Transfection; Western Blot; Bioinformatics Analysis

Description:

circBCL11B is up-regulated after 1,2-DCE exposure in SVG p12 human astrocyte-like cells. It functions as a ceRNA by binding miR-29b-3p, relieving miR-29b-3p-mediated inhibition of AQP4, thereby promoting AQP4 upregulation and astrocyte swelling. Knockdown of circBCL11B reverses 1,2-DCE-induced AQP4 upregulation and alleviates cell swelling.

Other information
Title:

CircBCL11B acts as a ceRNA to facilitate 1,2-dichloroethane-induced astrocyte swelling via miR-29b-3p/AQP4 axis in SVG p12 cells.
