circRNA-disease information
Expression pattern:
UP
Associated gene: ANXA2
Associated microRNA: miR-23a-5p, miR-503-3p
Biological function: circ-ANXA2 promotes AML cell proliferation, inhibits apoptosis, reduces chemosensitivity to cytarabine and daunorubicin, and is associated with higher disease risk, poor risk stratification, lower complete remission, shorter EFS and shorter OS.
Molecular mechanism: circ-ANXA2 may act as a miRNA sponge that negatively regulates miR-23a-5p and miR-503-3p; it was also proposed to affect its parental gene ANXA2.
Biological pathway or process:

proliferation (promotes); apoptosis (inhibits); chemoresistance (promotes); drug resistance (promotes); ceRNA regulation (other)

Detected method:
Q
M
Validation methods:

RNase R Treatment; RT-qPCR; Microarray; Clinical Sample Validation; Survival Analysis; ROC Analysis; Bioinformatics Analysis; Transfection; CCK8; Annexin V/PI Flow Cytometry

Clinical significance:

circ-ANXA2 predicted AML risk and correlated with poor risk stratification, lower complete remission, shorter event-free survival and shorter overall survival; it was proposed as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for AML.

Description:

circ-ANXA2 is up-regulated in AML patient BMMCs and AML cell lines. High circ-ANXA2 expression is associated with adverse clinical features and poor survival, while knockdown suppresses proliferation, promotes apoptosis and increases chemosensitivity, potentially through negative regulation of miR-23a-5p and miR-503-3p.

Confidence score:

0.7513
