High hsa_circ_0001178 expression was positively correlated with lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis, advanced TNM stage, shorter overall survival and shorter distant metastasis-free survival; it may be a promising prognostic indicator for CRC.
hsa_circ_0001178 is upregulated in metastatic colorectal cancer and high expression is associated with aggressive clinicopathologic features and poor survival. Functionally, it promotes CRC migration, invasion, EMT, and lung/liver metastasis by sponging miR-382, miR-587, and miR-616 to increase ZEB1 expression. ZEB1 also transcriptionally activates hsa_circ_0001178, forming a positive feedback ceRNA loop that amplifies CRC metastatic dissemination.
